Los días 13 y 14 de junio se llevó a cabo la campaña de vacunación canina en diversos conos de la ciudad de Juliaca. Se informó que 34 mil 515 canes fueron vacunados contra la rabia, siendo la mayoría de estos domésticos, así lo informó el jefe de Epidemiología del hospital Carlos Monge Medrano, Percy Casaperalta Calcina.

A pesar de este avance, gran número de canes callejeros no fueron inmunizados en las jornadas. Por tal razón, el especialista afirmó que se espera tener una reunión multisectorial con el alcalde calcetero para tratar este tema y realizar una posible eliminación de canes, ya que son un peligro para la población humana.

No obstante, en la reunión se tocará también el tema de la construcción de la Perrera Municipal, donde las mascotas que no tengan dueño se puedan acoger.

En la ciudad de Juliaca se tendría un nuevo posible caso de rabia canina por la salida a Puno. Para ello, se viene realizando el control necesario y así detectar a la víctima, dijo.

Casaperalta manifestó que durante las siguientes semanas seguirá la campaña por las periferias de la ciudad. Asimismo, se visitará a diversas comunidades para continuar.

Para fines del mes de junio se tendrá una panorama general de resultados de esta campaña de vacunación a nivel de toda la Red de Salud San Román.
